Local resort featured in new book: “Resorts of Minnesota” tells story of BugBee Hive Resort

"Quite frankly, it's an honor," said Neil Johnson – author of the new book, "Resorts of Minnesota" – of being able to hear and share Jack Bugbee's story of the resort that has been in his family since the 1920s.

Johnson, who recently fin- ished the book – exploring the heritage and history of 37 fam- ily resorts in Minnesota – interviewed Jack Bugbee, a pioneer in the resort industry, for a feature story in his new book last winter, shortly before Jack passed away in late March of this year. Jack's wife, Audrey, and son, Paul, who has owned and operated the resort since 2000, were also interviewed.

The interview with Johnson was one of the last times Jack was able to share the history of BugBee Hive Resort, and, for that opportunity, Paul is grateful. "It makes the book even more meaningful because he's there," he said of his father while referencing the page where the story of the 90-year-old Lake Koronis vacation destination begins.
